Phase Three Restore! Restore! Restore!
|

ALL OVER AGAIN!
Nobody wants that, trust me, I know. So the best way to avoid this is to show a little love to
each part you touch. If you really want a nice car. This is the time to really clean, and
repaint or polish all your parts. Wash, the engine bay, or prep it for paint.
Carpets should be cleaned with the seats removed. Rent one of those steamer cleaners or
use a brush and some liquid cleaner. While the seats are out, you can fix the little rips with
Those vinyl repair kits you've seen on TV.. They really do work pretty well, and can also be
used to fix small dash cracks. They Should also be cleaned, and the underside linkage
re-lubed. Clean out the seat tracks and apply some clear grease. (in small amounts) This is
also the time to clean and repair, or replace the dash. If your going to add any switches or
buttons, or any other electronics. This would be the best time to lay the wiring.
Check the wiring harness VERY CLOSELY by removing the black tape covering and
running the wires between your fingers. Feel for hard spots, and look for damage. If you
find any damage. Cut out that area, and patch in some new wire. After your done retape all
the lines.
Now check the fuse box. Take it apart, clean and polish all the contacts you can find.
Replace all the old aluminum fuses with newer copper ones. Check all the relays, if they
look original Nows a good time to replace them.

Now Lets look at the brakes. If your planning upgrades, nows the time. Same goes for
suspension mods. Or steering rack repairs. Some people will be stripping everything off
the car to have it dipped and painted. But most will have to settle for stripping off all the
door trim. Bumpers, and grill to prep our cars for paint. This really isn't so bad, but it
means you really can't change colors. And the last part of phase three is to prepare your
exhaust. Pick a engine, or rebuild yours. Replace the clutch disc, or the whole pack. Thats
About it. Its time (about 8months later) to put your car back together again.
